Coke is mainly used in blast furnace ironmaking and blast furnace smelting of non-ferrous metals such as copper, lead, zinc, titanium, antimony. It plays the role of reducing agent, heating agent and material column framework. The use of coke instead of charcoal in ironmaking blast furnace has laid the foundation for the large-scale of modern blast furnace and is a major milestone in the history of metallurgy. In order to achieve better technical and economic indexes for blast furnace operation, smelting coke (metallurgical coke) must have appropriate chemical and physical properties, including thermal properties in smelting process. Coke is not only widely used in iron making and non-ferrous metal smelting (metallurgical coke), but also used in casting, chemical industry, calcium carbide and ferroalloy, with different quality requirements. For example, the particle size and porosity of casting coke are generally high, such as low carbon and fixed coke; Coke for chemical gasification has not strict requirements on strength, but requires good reactivity and high ash melting point; Coke for calcium carbide production is required to increase the fixed carbon content as much as possibleUsed widely in fields of iron and steel making, foundry industry, chemicals industry, calcium carbide manufacturing, ferro alloy industry, etc.
